10 Commandments in Alabama

I listened to a VERY intellectually powered discussion on the radio today about the whole issue of the 10 Commandments monument in Alabama that's causing all the controversy. I learned a lot of things. A LOT!! From what I understand now, the federal court decision is itself unlawful. The reason? The federal government does not hold jurisdiction over that area, and the power actually belongs to the state itself. This is because any power not explicitly stated in the constitution as being ruled by the federal government is in the hands of the individual state's government. BEYOND that, of course, is the stupid separation of church and state issue, which is NOT a law and does not even concern the establishment of religion. It is about the church and the government not wielding power over one another. The First Ammendment explicitly states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion," and of course this means FOR or AGAINST!!! THE VERY WORST point of the whole thing that really struck me the most is that the supreme court building depicts the 10 commandments and Moses on the east wall. In addition, there is a sculpture in the south courtroom of Moses and the 10 commandments. ALSO, on the oak doors leading into the courtrooms has yet another depiction of the 10 commandments. Can we call this hypocrisy if nothing else? Isn't this case just ridiculous? While we're at it, the Liberty bell has bible verses on it. Why don't we just erase the entire record of the foundation of our nation? Of course, once we abolish Christianity, we can abolish Christian morals... Once that's accomplished the ACLU and anybody with an agenda has nothing holding them back. Why? Secular morals have no basis, and therefore can be changed to man's whim. If this ends up their success, the next step is gay marriages and worse. For those who have chosen that lifestyle, they think this can be great - but that's because they have not witnessed what Christ can truly do for their lives and are holding to an inferior standard. Once Christianity is forced to the darkness out of the public eye, there is less of a chance for a person to meet with God's saving grace. This could be, yet again, another step in that same direction. You can learn a lot on the radio when you listen to Focus on the Family with Dr. Dobson. They had a great interview with Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore himself - and I found out a lot of details that the average person doesn't hear. The media wants this to be government vs. religion, which it is to some extent, but it is really the federal government violating its own laws to push an agenda. You can read about and/or listen to this broadcast by going to the page on their web site anytime within probably the next month. It's worth hearing. At first I was skeptical that this judge was fighting for what he wanted rather than fighting for what's right - now I'm sure he's right.
